Post Fine Art Canvas Prints Odpowiedz z cytatem
I am about to take the final decision. I know what I want to print (high resolution scanned fine art and pictures on canvas and paper and car wraps, maybe also some Vinyl banners). I also know what printer brand I need (due to the service problems): Mimaki. For the car wraps I would opt for the Mimaki CJV30-160 Printer Cutter, because of the integrated cutter. For the fine art reproduction I would opt for Mimaki JV5-320S, having fool flexibility in the dimensions and being able to print at widened dimensions as the competition can.
I am still not so sure regarding the ink. There is this sepiax ink on resin base (for the fine art reproduction)... I have read the FLAAR report and it sounds great. For the car wraps I need an ink that offers also metallic ink.

My questions would be first, to those who have experience with Mimaki, what do you think about my choice regarding both, printers and ink.

First of all, because of the service conditions in the area where the machines will be installed. Also I have read many forum threads with operators from the print business having different brands and when it comes to compare Mimaki with Roland or Mutoh or Epson, they all write unanimously the same, that Mimaki, runs for years, and runs, and runs, with not much headache, service, etc. The second important influence is that I consider using Sepiax ink for the fine art canvas print and Sepiax is optimized for printheads Epson DX4 and DX5, as can be found in Mutoh, Roland DG and Mimaki printers. I consider this ink has a bright future, since it doesn't contain hevy metalls and is so universal from the materials point of view. Canvas do not need any preparation, etc. However, for the fine art Canvas prints, I am not sure if the Mimaki JV5-320S is the best choice from all the Mimaki printers. I was hoping I would find someone here that would give me some feedback to this.

Indeed, I have googled for a forum that gave me the feeling of a place where I could receive the missing information, but it seems there aren't so many Mimaki owners out there or they are to shy to reply Smile We'll see...

Before your image goes to print, CanvasPop sends digital proofs – and they are free. You do not get charged extra just to see the final version before it is printed on the canvas, which is huge because most other companies do not even offer digital proofs. And if they do, they’ll most likely charge a fee for it.

Plus, it doesn’t matter if the pictures come from Instagram, Facebook, or your smartphone. It’s also irrelevant if the picture is the size of a keychain or banner-sized. CanvasPop can turn any size, resolution, or format into a piece of beautiful canvas art.

All evidence points toward the conclusion that buying fine art solely to reap a future profit is likely to be unsuccessful. Traditional investments such as stocks, bonds, real estate, and gold have more transparency, better regulations, and higher liquidity than art. The transaction and ownership costs for these are also much less than the markups and premiums paid in the art world.
